Store owner in California shot over displaying a rainbow flag outside their shop
A shop owner in California was fatally shot following a disagreement regarding a Pride flag displayed outside her establishment, as reported by the police.
On Friday night in Lake Arrowhead, CA, a tragic shooting occurred. Law enforcement reports indicate that the suspect targeted Lauri Carelton, the owner of the Mag.
Pi clothing store, due to his disapproval of the rainbow flag displayed outside her shop. Lauri Carelton, a renowned fashion designer in Los Angeles for several decades, was the victim in this unfortunate incident.
Upon their arrival at the scene of the shooting, San Bernardino County Sheriff deputies found Lauri suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The armed assailant attempted to flee on foot but was eventually apprehended by deputies about a mile away from the store, leading to a confrontation in which the suspect was fatally shot by law enforcement officers.
The fatal shooting’s investigation regarding a potential hate crime remains uncertain. However, San Bernardino County Supervisor Dawn Rowe labeled the incident as a “senseless act of hate and violence.”
In a statement, Rowe expressed, “Every individual should enjoy a life free from hate and discrimination while exercising their constitutional freedom of speech. Lauri was an outstanding community member, and during this sorrowful time, I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family.”
Lauri was 66 years old. RIP.
