A recent study shows that the majority of the wealthiest Americans call California and New York home, living in ZIP codes where homes typically have price tags of $2 million or higher.

Among the top 100 most expensive ZIP codes to own a home in the United States, California boasts 61, while New York claims 18, as per a study conducted by RealtyHop, an online real estate marketplace. Additionally, 10 other states, such as Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, also feature on this exclusive list.

The 20 most expensive ZIP codes in the United States boast median listing prices of $4 million or higher. Atherton, California, has retained its title as the priciest ZIP code for the fourth consecutive year, with a median list price of $7.95 million.

Following closely is the renowned ZIP code 90210, associated with “Beverly Hills, 90210,” where homes have a median price of $6.29 million. In the third spot is Sagaponack, New York, an exclusive Hamptons enclave on Long Island, where the median home price stands at $5.9 million.

RealtyHop conducted a comprehensive analysis of home prices across all ZIP codes in the United States from January 1, 2023, to October 15, 2023. The analysis excluded listings that were exclusively for land and single-building ZIP codes.
