States with The Average Monthly Electricity bills August 2024
August 2024 saw a notable increase in average monthly electricity bills across the United States, with Connecticut leading the charge.
The national average electricity bill climbed to $185.59 in August 2024, a 2.6% increase from the previous year’s $180.82. This upward trend highlights the growing strain on household budgets, particularly in states with higher energy costs.
Connecticut emerged as the state with the highest average electricity bill, reaching a staggering $254.47. Arizona followed closely with a bill of $252.60, and Texas rounded out the top three at $233.38.
On the other end of the spectrum, Washington boasted the lowest average bill at $100.56. Montana and Wyoming followed suit with average bills of $114.25 and $114.75, respectively.
While the national average increased, several states experienced more significant price hikes. This upward trend can be attributed to various factors, including rising energy demand, increased reliance on air conditioning during summer months, and fluctuations in energy market prices.
As energy costs continue to fluctuate, consumers are urged to explore energy-efficient practices and consider alternative energy sources to mitigate the impact on their budgets.
