The Witcher producer Tomek Baginski wants fans to know that Liam Hemsworth looks the part ahead of his debut as Geralt of Rivia.
According to Express Online, Baginski briefly commented on the controversial recasting, mentioning that Liam Hemsworth has already undergone costume tests for The Witcher. “I’ve already seen [Liam] in Witcher makeup,” the producer revealed, “And in the Witcher look. And he looks awesome.” However, fans are still unaware of Hemsworth’s appearance as Geralt of Rivia because Netflix has not started production on the show’s fourth season due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Fans are upset about Cavill leaving
Baginski’s optimism about Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia contrasts with the vocal disagreements from many fans. In the three seasons, Henry Cavill played the titular Witcher, a casting choice initially met with skepticism but eventually embraced by fans. Netflix’s announcement of Cavill’s departure after Season 3 left many disappointed.
Henry Cavill’s departure from The Witcher is largely unknown, but there are rumors suggesting he wasn’t pleased with the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. Some speculate that his commitment to DC as Superman might have played a role, especially after the DCU reboot announcement.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, The Witcher has a passionate fanbase, who appreciate Cavill’s dedication to the story and characters. You can now stream The Witcher Seasons 1-3 on Netflix.
