Anna Shay, a prominent figure on the reality show ‘Bling Empire,’ passes away at the age of 62
Anna Shay, the 62-year-old reality TV personality known for her appearance in Netflix’s “Bling Empire,” has passed away due to a stroke.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Shay, a cherished mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and the radiant beacon of our lives. At the age of 62, she left us too soon due to a stroke. In a statement to Variety on Monday, her family expressed deep sadness and highlighted Anna’s invaluable lessons on embracing life’s joys and not taking it too seriously. While we mourn her loss, Anna’s impact on our lives will remain forever cherished and her memory everlasting.”
Born and raised in Japan, Anna Shay was the daughter of Edward Shay, an American businessman, and Ai Oizumi Shay, who had Japanese and Russian heritage. Edward Shay was the visionary behind the renowned global defense contractor Pacific Architects and Engineers.
Following her father’s passing in 1995, Anna’s brother Allen assumed the role of CEO at Pacific Architects. In 2006, Anna and her brother made the decision to sell the company to Lockheed Martin, resulting in them becoming heirs to the family fortune.
In 2021, Anna Shay captivated audiences as a prominent figure on Netflix’s reality TV series, “Bling Empire.” Alongside Asian American Los Angeles socialites such as Kane Lim, Gabriel and Christine Chiu, Kim Lee, and Jaime Xie, Anna became a star of the show, often likened to the real-life version of “Crazy Rich Asians.” Her vibrant presence and unique perspective endeared her to viewers around the world.
